Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Adds richness and flavor.
  • 1 cup buttermilk Gives the donuts moisture and tenderness.
  • 2 large eggs Brings everything together.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract For a warm aroma.

Topping

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon For the crumb topping.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar Lends cozy warmth.

Glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar For a sweet glaze.
  • 2 tbsp milk To achieve a drizzly consistency.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • In another bowl, mix melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract until blended.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold until just combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together cinnamon and brown sugar for the crumb topping.

Baking

  • Spoon the donut batter into the prepared pan, filling each cavity about 3/4 full and sprinkling the cinnamon crumb mixture on top.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Glazing

  • While the donuts are cooling, mix together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
  • Once the donuts have cooled slightly, dip the tops into the glaze. Let them sit to allow the glaze to set.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. These donuts freeze well; just wrap them in plastic wrap and place in a freezer bag for up to three months.
