Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry

Ingredients
  

For the Stir-Fry

  • 1 lb beef (sliced thinly) Flank or sirloin recommended, avoid tough cuts.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh is best, frozen works if needed.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Can use canola or any neutral oil.

For the Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce Provides umami flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce For a glossy finish and depth.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch To thicken the sauce.
  • 1 cup beef broth Can substitute with water.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced) Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon ginger (minced) Adds warmth and aroma.

To Serve

  • Cooked rice for serving White or quinoa works well.

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth. Whisk until smooth and set aside.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Add the minced garlic and ginger to the hot oil and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet and stir-fry until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the broccoli florets and continue to stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until vibrant green but still crunchy.
  • Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and cook until the sauce thickens and clings to the meat and veggies.
  • Serve hot over fluffy rice or quinoa, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat with a splash of water to prevent drying out.
