For the Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Ensure it's at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Adds sweetness to the filling.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Use pure vanilla for better flavor.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional; for an extra decadent filling.

For the Egg Rolls

  • 1 package egg roll wrappers These are the main component of the rolls.
  • Vegetable oil for frying You'll need enough to submerge the egg rolls.
  • powdered sugar for dusting (optional) Adds a lovely aesthetic touch.

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in chocolate chips if using.
  • Lay one egg roll wrapper on a clean surface and add about 2 tablespoons of the cheesecake filling in the center.
  • Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll up tightly to seal.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Fry the egg rolls until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove and let drain on paper towels. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Keep a wet paper towel handy while rolling to prevent wrappers from drying out. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days.
