  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese Shredded for extra melty goodness.
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning For flavoring.
  • 2 medium jalapeños Diced, seeds removed for milder flavor.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Panko recommended for crispiness.
  • 1 large egg Beaten, acts as a binding agent.
  • oil For frying Neutral oil like canola or vegetable.

Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup sour cream For dipping.
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing Mix with sour cream for enhanced flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons chives Optional, for garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat oil in a frying pan.
  • In a bowl, mix the shredded chicken, sharp cheddar, ranch seasoning, and diced jalapeños.
  • Form the mixture into small balls or patties.
  • Dip each ball into beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs to coat.

Cooking

  • Place the poppers on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake for about 20 minutes, or fry until golden brown for about 4-5 minutes.

Serving

  • Mix sour cream with ranch dressing and sprinkle with chopped chives if desired.
  • Serve the poppers hot with the creamy dip.

Notes

Let poppers rest for a few minutes after cooking for easier handling. Double breading can enhance crispiness. Can be made ahead and frozen for convenience.
