  • 2 cups frozen peas Frozen peas are convenient.
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste Lends a rich, savory note.
  • 1 cup beef broth Adds umami flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Adds complexity.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Season according to preference.

Top Layer

  • 4 cups mashed potatoes Homemade preferred.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional) For an extra cheesy topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground meat until beautifully cooked.
  • Drain excess fat if necessary, keeping some moisture.
  • Add the diced onion, carrots, and celery, sauté for about 5–7 minutes until tender.
  • Stir in the frozen peas, tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes.

Assembling

  • Spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish.
  • Top with fluffy mashed potatoes, dollop and spread gently.
  • Optionally, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For creamier mashed potatoes, add cream or milk. Feel free to customize the recipe with your favorite spices or leftover veggies.
