Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, and then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, folding gently until just combined.
  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop tablespoon-sized dollops of dough onto lined baking sheets, leaving space between cookies.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow cookies to cool slightly after baking.

Caramelization

  • Sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sugar on each cookie.
  • Caramelize the sugar using a kitchen torch or by broiling them briefly (watch closely to prevent burning).

Serving

  • Let the cookies cool slightly before serving them.

Notes

Leftover cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Freeze cookie dough balls for up to 3 months for easy baking later.
