Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 500 g boneless chicken thighs or breasts Thighs are recommended for juiciness.
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch The secret for crispy coating.
  • 2 large eggs, beaten Helps cornstarch to cling.
  • to taste salt & black pepper Season generously.
  • Oil for frying vegetable oil or canola oil Use an oil with a high smoke point.

For the Sauce

  • 3 tbsp honey For sweetness and stickiness.
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce Go for low-sodium if desired.
  • 2 tbsp ketchup Adds sweetness and tang.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Don’t skimp on the garlic!
  • 1 tbsp vinegar Balances the sweetness.
  • 1 tsp chili flakes (optional) For heat if desired.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and black pepper.
  • Roll chicken pieces in cornstarch, dip in beaten egg, and dust with cornstarch again.

Frying

  • Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat and fry the chicken in batches until golden brown.
  • Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Sauce Preparation

  • In a saucepan, combine garlic, honey, soy sauce, ketchup, vinegar, and chili flakes, simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Coating

  • Add crispy chicken to the sauce and toss gently until well coated.

Garnishing

  • Sprinkle with chopped parsley or sesame seeds for presentation.

Notes

Let the oil heat up properly and don’t overcrowd the pan for the best results. Adjust flavors to your preference.
