  • 500 grams Beef strips (flank steak or sirloin) Choose a cut with marbling for juiciness.
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch For the crunchy coating.
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil Use canola or peanut oil for frying.
  • 2 cloves Minced garlic Fresh garlic is highly recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon Grated ginger Adds essential flavor.
  • 2 pieces Red chilies Adjust quantity based on heat preference.
  • 1/4 cup Soy sauce Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar For balancing heat.
  • 1 tablespoon Vinegar Rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar works well.
  • 2 stems Spring onions Chopped, for garnish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Marinate the beef strips in soy sauce for at least 30 minutes.
  • Dust the marinated beef with cornstarch to coat evenly.

Cooking

  • Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  • Add the beef strips in batches and fry until golden and crispy.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • In the same pan, add minced garlic, grated ginger, and sliced red chilies; stir-fry for a couple of minutes.
  • Add sugar and vinegar, and stir to combine.
  • Toss in the crispy beef and coat thoroughly in the sauce.
  • Serve with noodles or rice, garnished with chopped spring onions.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for better flavor. Adjust sugar to taste based on the heat of the chilies. Experiment with different vegetables for added crunch. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days, and reheat in a pan for best crispiness.
