  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Freshly minced for the best flavor.
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated Freshly grated ginger adds a nice zing.
  • 1 tbsp sriracha sauce Adjust according to your spice preference.
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch Thickens the sauce; must mix with water first.
  • 2 tbsp water Used to create a slurry with cornstarch.

Preparation

  • Gather Your Ingredients: Have all your ingredients handy and perhaps pour yourself a refreshing drink.
  • Mix the Liquid Gold: In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix until the honey dissolves.
  • Create the Slurry: In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water until smooth.
  • Bring It to a Simmer: Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally as it simmers.
  • Thicken Up: Slowly whisk in the cornstarch slurry while stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  • Final Touches: Once thickened, remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Use or Store: Ready to use or let it cool completely and store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

For variations, you can add chopped green onions or sesame seeds. This sauce can also be used as a marinade. Letting it simmer gently helps the flavors marry perfectly.
