  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs Use plain or Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs for added flavor.
  • 1 large egg Binds everything together.
  • 0.25 cup milk Can substitute with almond milk or oat milk for dairy-free option.
  • 0.5 cup finely chopped onion Adds sweetness as it caramelizes.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Optional to use roasted garlic for deeper flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup Adds moisture and a touch of sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Add mindfully.
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper Adds some spice.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme Fresh thyme can be used, adjust amount accordingly.

Glaze Ingredients

  • 0.25 cup ketchup Essential for the sweet topping.
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar Gives the glaze color and sweetness.
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard Adds a tangy kick.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Shape the mixture into a loaf on a baking sheet or press it into a greased loaf pan.

Making the Glaze

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard for the glaze. Brush it over the top of the meatloaf.

Cooking

  • Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Pairs well with creamy mashed potatoes or roasted veggies. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days and are great for sandwiches.
