Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour The foundation of our blondies.
  • 1 tsp baking powder For a little puff.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Enhances the sweetness.

Blondie Base

  • 1 cup butter (softened) Adds richness.
  • 1/4 cup sugar Adds sweetness.
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar Packed with flavor.
  • 2 large eggs Helps bind everything together.
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon Gives a warming spice.
  • 2 large apples (chopped finely) Highlight of the recipe.
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar For the apple filling.
  • 1 Tbsp butter For caramelizing apples.

Maple Glaze

  • 2 Tbsp butter For the glaze.
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup Sets the dish off.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Sweetens the glaze.
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract Ties the glaze together.
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon Adds a hint of spice.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 11 x 7 pan with tin foil or spray with cooking spray.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Blondie Mixture

  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon; beat until combined.
  • Gently fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.

Apple Filling

  • Melt 1 Tbsp of butter in a small pan over medium heat and cook the chopped apples with 2 Tbsp brown sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla for about 5 minutes until softened.
  • Fold the apple mixture into the blondie batter.

Baking

  • Spread the blondie mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until edges pull away and a toothpick comes out clean.

Maple Glaze

  • Melt 2 Tbsp of butter and combine with maple syrup, powdered sugar, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract, and 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon, whisking until smooth.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled blondies before cutting into squares.

Notes

Let the blondies cool completely for easier cutting. You can store them in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
