For the Cream Filling

  • 500 ml 500 ml milk Creates the luscious cream filling.
  • 150 grams 150 grams sugar Balances out the sweetness.
  • 100 grams 100 grams all-purpose flour Adds body and texture.
  • 2 large 2 large eggs Enhances creaminess.
  • 180 grams 180 grams butter Essential for the creamy filling.

For Garnishing

Instructions
 

Preparation of the Cake

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together 150 grams of all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • In a mixer, cream together 80 grams of butter and 150 grams of sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in 4 large eggs, followed by 100 ml of water and 100 ml of milk until combined.
  • Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until no dry flour remains.
  • Pour the batter into a well-greased cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Making the Cream Filling

  • In a clean bowl, mix 100 grams of flour with 500 ml of milk until smooth.
  • Transfer the mixture to a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
  • Once thick, add 180 grams of butter and 2 eggs, mixing until smooth and creamy.

Assembling the Cake

  • Once the cake has cooled, slice it horizontally into two even layers.
  • Spread the cream filling generously on the bottom half of the cake.
  • Top it with the other half of the cake and dust with icing sugar.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature ingredients and don’t rush cooling times. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
