Dough Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water Keep the water pleasantly warm around 110°F (43°C).
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Helps yeast to grow.
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast These will make the dough rise.
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour Essential for structure.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Key for flavor.
  • 1/4 cup melted butter Brush some on top at the end.

Seasoning

  • to taste garlic powder Adds flavor.
  • to taste Italian seasoning For that extra zing.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix flour and salt together. Add in the yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir until a soft dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces, rolling each piece into sticks.
  • Place the shaped breadsticks on a greased baking sheet and let them rise for another 20 minutes.
  • Bake breadsticks for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes for best texture.
