Ingredients

For the Dough

  • 1 package Puff Pastry, thawed Store-bought works beautifully; Pillsbury is recommended for flakiness.
  • 1 beaten Egg For egg wash; beat with a splash of water.

For the Filling

  • 1/2 cup Fruit Jam Blackcurrant or raspberry jam works well for a sweet filling.

For the Topping

  • 1/3 cup Honey Used for drizzling as the 'blood'. Can use local or raw honey.

Spices/Seasonings

  • 1 pinch Cinnamon or Nutmeg For added flavor; optional.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Thaw the puff pastry sheets for about 30 minutes on the counter.
  • Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface until even.
  • Cut out shapes of doll bodies, aiming for about 4-5 inches long.
  • Place half of the shapes on a parchment-lined baking sheet and add a dollop of fruity jam in the center.
  • Seal with the other half of the shapes by pressing down the edges with a fork.

Baking

  • Brush each doll with egg wash.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden.
  • Cool for a few minutes before handling.

Finishing Touch

  • Warm honey on low heat to thin it out and drizzle it over the baked dolls.

Serving

  • Serve the voodoo dolls warm and enjoy the spooky fun!
