  • 1/2 cup warm milk Make sure it's not too hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted Adds richness to the dough.
  • 1/2 tsp salt Essential for flavor.
  • 1 large egg Provides richness.

Filling Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup minced garlic For a strong flavor, fresh garlic is recommended.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Adds cheesy goodness.
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano Herb adds depth to flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme Herb for additional flavor.

Preparation

  • Activate the yeast by dissolving it in warm milk and letting it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it looks frothy.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Combine the melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture with the dry ingredients, knead until smooth for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered with a towel, in a warm place for about 1 hour.

Rolling and Filling

  • Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  • Spread the minced garlic over the surface, then sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, oregano, and thyme.
  • Roll the dough tightly from the long side and slice into 1-inch pieces.

Final Rise and Baking

  • Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with a towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

These rolls pair wonderfully with a side salad or a bowl of soup. They can also be frozen before the second rise and baked later.
